Demonstrations, seminars mark May Day celebratins
New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) The Mazdoor Diwas or May Day celebrations in the National Capital today were marked with demonstrations and seminars by trade union activists, journalists and street children.
The Delhi Union of Journalists celebrated May Day and its 60th anniversary with a call for strengthening the confedration of newspaper and news agency employees and building on its own independent strength.
The DUJ said the Delhi Press Morcha 2008 would now concentrate on unfair labour practices in the newspaper industry in the capital.
Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan led Lok Janshakti Party also organised a programme to mark the day.
The Delhi Committee of the Indian Federation of Trade Unions took out its traditional rally from Ramlila Maidan to Jantar Mantar with activists carrying red flags and banners.

The protestors alleged that the government was ignoring the welfare of the workers and paying no attention towards their poor working conditions.
