'Corruption in Cong govt keeps CPI away to forge alliance'
Hyderabad, May 1 (UNI) Communist Party of India (CPI) Andhra Pradesh Secretary K Narayana today said the party would not forge an alliance with the ruling Congress in the by-elections to 18 Assembly and four Lok Sabha seats, scheduled to be held on May 29, due to ''rampant corruption'' prevailing during its rule.
Speaking to newspersons after participating in 'May Day' celebrations at Karimnagar, 200 km from the Capital city, Mr Narayana said, ''the CPI is not interested in fighting unitedly with the Congress in the by-elections. Misuse of funds and corruption is taking place in every sector since Congress came to power.'' ''The State Government also failed to constitute Land Commission to solve the long pending land issues, including distribution of land to the poor,'' he said, adding it was not possible to forge an alliance with the Congress, which was claiming that development was taking place in every field without corruption.
