Congress threatens stir against price rise in Nagaland

Kohima, May 1 (UNI) The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) of Nagaland has threatened to launch a series of agitations in protest against the price rise.

Addressing a press conference here yesterday, CLP Leader I Imkong said if the ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) failed to control the abnormal price rise in the state immediately, the Congress would resort to various forms of stirs in a phased manner.

''The DAN government has totally failed to control the prices of all essential commodities. Random collections of taxes at all check gates and mushrooming of the check gates are the main reasons for the increase of transport costs, which has resulted in price rise,'' the Congress leader said.

He said the CLP had constituted a committee on price rise with the members of the state Congress, which will study the causes and reasons of the abnormal price rise and submit their report within ten days.
