Yudhvir Memorial award presented to Melkote
Hyderabad, Apr 30 (UNI) The 17th Yudhvir Memorial Foundation Award was presented to actor and founder of Little Theatre, Shanker S Melkote for his contribution to popularisation of written word through dramatisation of texts.
The annual award consisting of a citation and cash amount of Rs 50,000 was presented here today by Chairman of the foundation Narendra Luther at a birth aniversary function of late Yudhvir, a noted journalist and founder of the Hindi Milap, a popular daily in Hyderabad.
Mr Melkote, who is also the Managing Director of Margdarsi Marketing Company, acted in numerous plays and about 140 films in the last 20 years. He founded Little Theatre, the group that reads extracts from original writings and translations of eminent authors, using simple techniques of threate without any physical props.
Secretary of the Yudhvir Foundation and editor of Hindi Milap Vinay Vir, son of late Yudhvir, was among others present on the occasion.
