Use "invisible" Zebra crossing, authorities to people in Kashmir
Srinagar, Apr 30 (UNI) People have been advised to use ''invisible'' zebra crossing to avoid accidents here as repair of roads and painting of footpaths and bridges was going on war footing to receive the darbar move offices, reopening here on May 5.
A high level meeting was held here to devise effective mechanism to check traffic hazards and streamline traffic system in the city.
An official release issued said the meeting dwelt upon various issues relating to development of parking lots for Sumos, regulation of traffic movement and security for tourists visiting in deluxe coaches.
The pedestrians were asked to use Zebra crossings for crossing the road while the matador drivers were urged to halt at the parking places identified for them.
They parts of the city could not find any zero crossing on the road.
However, dozens of labourers and painters were cleaning and painting footpaths road dividers and bridges for the past two weeks.
The roads leading to civil secretariat, the seat of the government were also repaired while big holes could still be seen in other city roads.
People said the footpaths are under the occupation of roadside vendors while there was no zebra crossing visible on any city roads.
Where are the zero crossings for crossing the footpaths, they said and alleged that only when the offices shifts from Jammu to here, the authorities woke up in summer capital.
