TN Govt announces assistance to fishermen
Chennai, Apr 30 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced an assistance of Rs 500 to each fisherman's family during the 45-day fishing ban period.
An official release here said this move would benefit two lakh families of fishermen, entailing an additional expenditure of Rs ten crore to the exchequer.
The Chief Minister made the announcement after favourably considering the pleas of fishermen in coastal districts, seeking assistance, as they were rendered jobless due to the ban on fishing.
