Robbery at priest's house in Tamil Nacu
Kancheepuram, Apr 30: Miscreants gained entry into the house of a priest in the early hours of today and decamped with 58 sovereigns of gold jewellery and Rs 10,000 in cash.
Police said five to six men gained entry into the house of Kalyana Sundara Archakar, a priest at the famous Sri Kamatchi Amman Temple here, when the inmates were fast asleep.
After finding the locker and the key in the pooja room, they took it upstairs and opened it.
They decamped with the cash and jewels meant for the marriage of the priest's daughter.
Police rushed to the scene of crime for investigation. A sniffer dog and fingerprint experts were pressed into service.
