President arrives in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 30 (UNI) President Prathibha Patil arrived here this afternoon on a two -day visit to Kerala.

Ms Patil arrived at the Air Force base by Special Aircraft at 1315 hrs.

Governor R L Bhatia, Chief Minister V S Achutanandan, Speaker K Radhakrishnan, Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and Opposition Leader in the State Assembly Oommen Chandy were among those who received the President.

She later left for the Raj Bhavan.

In the evening, she will inaugurate the valedictory function of the golden jubilee celebrations of the Kerala Legislative Assembly.

She will participate in the birth centenary celebrations of Former Chief Minister R Shanker tomorrow.This is Ms Patil's second visit to the state.
