LNG deal with India frozen because of IAEA vote: Iranian Prez
New Delhi, Apr 29 (UNI) Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad today admitted that the LNG deal with India was put on hold after New Delhi voted against Tehran at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
''I think it has got some relation with the IAEA vote.
There are also some legal interpretations,'' he told a crowded news conference after his talks with President Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here.
Mr Ahmedinejad said India had its own ''compulsions'' regarding the IAEA vote.
However, he said the relations between Iran and India were so deep and historical that these issues had almost no adverse impact on them.
''We have forgotten the past and are now looking towards the future,'' the Iranian President added.
Mr Ahmedinejad arrived here this evening on a whistle-stop five hour transit visit on his way home from a tour of Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
