LED series consumes least energy: CERS
Ahmedabad, Apr 30 (UNI) Ahmedabad-based Consumer Education and Research Society (CERS) has said Light Emitting Diode (LED) consumes the least energy among decorative lamps.
The CERS, which has its in-house comparative product testing laboratory, has tested a total of 41 samples of six varieties, commonly available in the market, out of which five varieties were of Chinese origin and one was locally assembled with no Standards laid down for these series lamps.
CERS tested them for assessing their energy consumption, safety, general working and found that the 2-pin plugs of all the Chinese series lights were inferior in quality. This may cause loose contact and heating of the plug leading to fire.
Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has neither laid down any standards nor regulations for these decorative lamp series. There is also no mention of the authority which governs the manufacture, import and sale of these lamps, CERS observed.
