Kerala endorses Paloli Report on Sachar

Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 30: Endorsing the recommendations of the Paloli Committee that looked into the report of the Rajinder Sachar Committee, the Left Democratic Front Government in Kerala today decided to set up a Minorities Welfare Department in the state.

It was decided to implement the Sachar Committee Report in the state on the basis of the Paloli Committee, Chief Minister V S Achutanandan told reporters here after a Cabinet meeting.

The recommendations included providing scholarships to students, he said.

The committee, headed by Local Administration Minister Paloli Mohammed Kutty, had handed over a 15-point list of recommendations.

Another decision taken at the Cabinet was to entrust the Malabar Cancer Centre with the Health Department. Till now, the Kerala State Electricity Board was managing the Centre.
