India reports 203 polio cases till April 25
New Delhi, Apr 30 (UNI) Despite intensive pulse polio campaign and routine immnunisation, India reported as many as 203 cases of polio during the first four months of this year.
Till April 25, 2008 as many as 203 polio cases were detected in the country of which 201 children had received Polio vaccine either during Polio Immunisation Rounds or in the Routine Immunisation, he Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Panabaaka Lakshmi in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
The total number of children given polio vaccine during 2005, 2006 and 2007 were 813,320,074; 811,589,114 and 993,246,035 respectively.
India had last year reported 864 cases of polio of which Uttar Pradesh accounted for nearly 40 per cent cases.
