Distorted India map on UNAIDS website corrected
New Delhi, Apr 30 (UNI) A distorted map of India, carried on the website of the Joint United Nations Programmee on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), has been corrected, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee informed the Lok Sabha today.
Replying to a question, he said the India country page on the UNAIDS website carried a map which did not show the northern and southern parts of the country.
The Permanent Mission of India to the Offices of the United Nations took up the matter with the UNAIDS Secretariat.
''The issue has been rectified and the entire map of India, along with the standard disclaimer used by the United Nations that the boundaries, names and designations shown on the map do not imply official endorsement or acceptance by the UN, is now posted on the India country page of the UNAIDS website,'' he said.
