Court orders 3 months jail to District Collector

Chittorgarh, Apr 30 (UNI) A local court today awarded three-month jail term to District Collector P L Agrawal for failure to comply with the court directives for improving parking arrangement in the court premises.

A petition was filed by then Bar Council Chairman Chand Mal Agrawal and others before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Paras Kumar Jain in March 2006 for improvement of parking facility in the court premises.

The court had directed the district administration to take effective measures in this regard within a month.

However, no action had been taken and as a result a contempt petition was filed before Justice Jain who today punished the collector with three-month jail term and also ordered attachment of his property.
