Bond duo granted bail in unlicensed possession of bullets case
Siliguri, Apr 30 (UNI) The mother-and-daughter duo from California, US, who were arrested for unlicensed possession of a clip of eleven nine mm bullets on April 14, were today granted bail.
Monica(57) and Heather(37) Bond, who were supposed to board the Deccan's 619 flight to Delhi via Guwahati, were arrested at Bagdogra airport, after the clip of ammunition was detected during their baggage check-in. The duo had, however, maintained that they were totally unaware about the presence of the ammunition in one of their rucksacks.
They were produced before the Siliguri Additional District and Sessions court for the third time today, when judge Pinaki Ranjan Jha granted them bail against an amount of Rs 2,000 each. They have also been directed not to leave the coutry and have to appear before the investigating officer every 15 days. Their visas and passports have been confiscasted and are in police safe-keeping.
Court sources informed that they will be released later today or early tomorrow. Three lawyers today represented the defendants today.
