Anti-Child Labour Day observed in Bihar
Patna, Apr 30 (UNI) Anti-Child Labour Day was observed here today to raise awareness about the ill effects of child labour and highlight the dangers of children working in hazardous and non-hazardous occupations.
Inaugurating a function organised to mark the occasion here, state Labour Minister Avdhesh Narayan Singh warned that employing the children as workers in hotels, roadside eateries and as domestic help in houses would invite stringent action.
''Bihar is the first state in the country to constitute the Child Labour Commission and Special Task Forces (STF) have been deployed in each district of the state to ensure the compliance of the related act,'' he said adding the state government was committed to making Patna a 'child labour free zone.' On the occasion, more than 500 children enrolled in the National Child Labour Project (NCLP) schools situated in Patna participated in a series of cultural activities held at L N Mishra Institute of Management.
