5.5 kg charas recovered in Kashmir, smuggler arrested

Srinagar Apr 30 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested a smuggler along with 5.5 kg of charas in the south Kashmir district of Pulwama, official sources said.

They said acting on a tip off about the movement of smugglers in the area, police established a naka on Wasoora general road.

During the naka, police arrested Reyaz Ahmad Mir and recovered the charas from his possession.

In its drive against the smugglers, police recovered a large quantity of charas, brown sugar and other banned items and also arrested more than 100 smugglers in the Kashmir valley during the past six months.

Police and officials of excise department also destroyed charas and other banned crops over thousands of kanals of land in the valley, particularly in the south Kashmir district of Anantnag and Pulwama during the period.
