World Bank assures help to Nepal for hydro power development
Kathmandu, Apr 29 (UNI) The World Bank today assured Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala of all kind of assistance for hydro power development in Nepal.
The 11 directors of the World Bank, who are on a visit of Nepal, said during the meeting that the Bank will cooperate Nepal in its development efforts, inlcuding in hydro power development, PM's foreign affairs advisor Aditya Baral said.
''The World Bank's representatives enquired about the kind of projects the Nepal Government wanted the Bank to invest in following the transformation of the country after conflict,'' Mr Baral said.
Poverty and unemployment can be eliminated if the country can make progress in hydro power sector in exemplary manner, he quoted Koirala as saying.
The World Bank officials met with the Maoist leadership and consulted about the Bank's future assistance programme and the party's economic plan and policy.
The team of World Bank officials, who arrived here in the capital four days ago and met officials during their visit to Nepal, is leaving for New Delhi today.
