MSEDCL office attacked in Malegaon, Kolhapur

Nashik, Apr 29 (UNI) Angry over the frequent load-shedding, residents in Malegaon town of Nashik district and Kolhapur attacked and ransacked the office of the State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) today.

According to sources, local residents in Malegaon attacked the sub-divisional office of MSEDCL, situated near bus stand on the Old Mumbai-Agra Road, this evening. They broke the window panes and furniture in the office. They also damaged the vehicles parked outside the office.

Meanwhile, Malegaon experienced six-and-half hours of load-shedding. In addition to this, there was some additional load-shedding these days. The city is experiencing a very hot summer these days. The load-shedding added to the woes of the citizens. It also affects the power loom industry here. All this angered the citizens and they attacked the office today. However, they did not attack any of the employees.

According to reports reaching here from Kolhapur, a similar incident was reported at Gokul-Shirgaon, near Kolhapur, where some unidentified persons damaged the sub-station of MSEDCL.

A group of people gathered outside the sub-station and broke window panes by pelting stones. They also damaged office furniture early this morning. They also manhandled staff present there, sources in Karvir police station said, adding, no one has been arrested so far.
