Mizo boys lay down 'arms' on Earth Day

Aizawl, Apr 29(UNI) Thousands of birds would get a fresh lease of life as Mizo boys today surrendered their catapults on the occasion of the Earth Day.

Students participating in the birds' conservation rally here as part of the observation of the Earth Day made a solemn pledge that they would never harm birds again which was symbolised by the laying down of 'arms.' Inaugurating the observation function of the Earth Day 2008, planning officer under environment &forests department Lalrinmawia said positive signs to improve the environment have come from the younger generation.

The new generations will make a new Mizoram, Lalrinmawia hoped.

Speaking at the function, Association for Environmental Preservation president K Lalmuansanga encouraged the participating students saying that they represent the entire community of students across Mizoram. He hoped that the rally would bring positive impacts on the entire society in environmental preservation.
