HPCL acquires 2 sugar mills for ethanol blended petrol
New Delhi, Apr 29 (UNI) The government today said HPCL has taken over two sick sugar mills, one at Sugauli in East Champaran and another at Louris in West Champaran in Bihar, to produce ethanol blended petrol.
''Currently, the study is being carried out and expected ethanol production from these two units will be established only after completion of the study,'' Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dinsha Patel informed the Rajya Sabha in a written reply today.
Mr Patel also clarified that public sector undertakings have not acquired any sick sugar mills in Andhra Pradesh.
However, a preliminary study for possibility of putting up ethanol plant at two sugar units running under cooperative sector in the district of Visakhapatnam is being carried out by HPCL.
