Eight killed, 15 injured in two road accidents in TN

Chennai, Apr 29 (UNI) Eight people were killed and 15 others injured in two separate road accidents in Tamil Nadu today.

In the first incident, five people were killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between a Tata Qualis and a container lorry on the Dharmapuram-Coimbatore road in the Erode district.

In the second incident, three people were killed on the spot and ten others seriously injured in a head-on collision between a van and a Tamil Nadu State Road Transport Corporation bus at Puliyali village near Devakottai in Sivaganga district.

Police said the passengers in the van were on a pilgrimage to Palani hills when the tragedy occurred.

The injured were rushed to a private hospital at Karaikudi and the government Hospital at Devakottai.

The driver of the van was stated to be absconding, police added.
