Andaman demands punishment for serial killers
Port Blair, Apr 29 (UNI) A day after the arrest of four serial killers of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, political parties, public representatives and villagers today demanded strict action against the murderers.
'' This is a shameful act and the murderers must be punished as per the law,'' Bishnu Pada Ray, a former Member of Parliament from Andaman and Nicobar Islands, told UNI.
Panic stricken residents of the far-flung Indian Islands were demanding strictest punishment to all the four killers, who had brutally murdered two minor girls after allegedly kidnapping and raping them.
The bandh called yesterday by the residents of Diglipur area of North Andaman have been, however, lifted this morning but the entire area is still tensed and shocked.
Andaman Police busted a serial killing case like 'Nitahari' in Andaman and Nicobar Islands yesterday. While the first murder was committed in March, the second happened on April 24.
Papri Biswas and Sunitha Laldar (both 14 years) of Diglipur, North Andaman, became victim of a gang of boys, out of whom three were studying in ninth and tenth standard while the fourth used to give tuitions in the village.
The matter became public following the kidnapping of Papri Biswas on April 24 after police arrested a few boys and interrogated them.
During police interrogation one of the boys reportedly broke down and admitted to the crime and took police to a creek area where he with other three had thrown the body after chopping it into pieces.
But police recovered two bodies packed in separate bags.
Further interrogation revealed that the other body was of Sunitha Lalder, who was killed by the same gang in a similar manner, nearly a month back, Superintendent of Police in Andaman Ashok Chand told UNI today.
According police the first victim Sunitha Lalder was from Desh Bondhu Gram village while the second victim Papri Biswas was from Subhash Gram Village of Diglipur Island, situated at the northern tip of Andaman Island Chain.
This is first such incident reported in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which left almost all islands shocked and disturbed.
