UPSRTC to begin statewide strike tonight; govt turns tough
Lucknow, Apr 28 (UNI) Even as Uttar Pradesh government today ordered to take stringent action against the agitators for violent protests and breaking rule of law, Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) employees have declared statewide strike starting tonight.
UPSRTC employees union had several meetings with the administration earlier to get their demands sanctioned, however, the meetings ended with no results.
The meeting was again called today and was still under negotiation. However, the union had announced to go for state-wide agitation from today midnight.
Meanwhile, the UP Government had directed all the district Magistrates to make alternate transport arrangements to avoid any inconveniance to general public.
Besides, taking strict action would be taken against the violent protesters and law-breakers.
UPSRTC employees had demanded to extend their retirement age from 58 to 60, besides taking 1982 and further employees under pension scheme.
They had also asked for 50 per cent dearness allowance and job on compassionate grounds to the family member of the deceased.
