Uphold ban on monkey export: PETA
Shimla, Apr 28 (UNI) People of Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has urged the Himachal Pradesh government to defend the ban on export of monkeys abroad, where they are being used for experiments, Senior Vivisection Campaign Coordinator Dharmesh Solanki today said here.
The monkeys were integral part of biodiversity and component of India's growing tourism industry and in short the larger importance of monkeys for the country far exceeds any short term monetary gain that might be realised through the commercialisation of primates, Mr Solanki added.
''The highly intelligent primates forms intricate social relationship and sending them to suffer in laboratories abroad would be a callus move'', Mr Solanki added.
