Two-day Congress on IFG kicks off tomorrow

Hyderabad, Apr 28 (UNI) The International Force Group (IFG), a worldwide association of 'Independent Freight Forwarders' will hold a two-day Congress here from tomorrow.

Talking to newspersons here today, President P V K Mohan said the timing of the event and choice of India as the venue for the event gained importance, as the country's merchandise exports, which had grown continuously at more than 20 per cent, since 2002-03, posting 22.8 per cent in 2006-07, reaching US dollar 111 billion in value terms.

The Congress came at a time when the sixe of the Indian economy was expected to cross USD one trillion mark in two to three years, he added.

The Congress, sponsored by the Shipping Corporation of India would see participation by about 60 top executives and business owners from more than 40 countries.

At the Annual General Meeting (AGM), John White was elected as the Vice President. Andreas Russi(Italy), Diego Vaqn Domselaar (Argentina), Kevin Chang (China) and Dorren Bonnici were elected as Executive Committee members.

Capt Mohan took the charge from William Lim (Malaysia), the immediate past president.
