PSLV-C9 Blasts off from SHAR range with record payloads

Sriharikota, Apr 28 (UNI) Carrying a record ten satellites as payload, PSLV-C9, the 13th flight of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), blasted off from the SHAR Range at 0923 hrs, today.

The core alone 44-metre tall, four-stage, 230-tonne launch vehicle of ISRO, carried the 690 kg Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) satellite CARTOSAT-2A and the 83-kg Indian Mini Satellite (IMS-1), apart from eight nano-satellites from abroad.

This was for the first time in Indian space history and in the world space history that a record number of ten satellites were being included as payloads on a single mission.
