Puducherry, Apr 28 (UNI) Alleging that the law and order situation in the Union Territory of Puducherry has deteroriated, PMK member Anantharaman today urged the administration to take proper steps to maintain it.

Making a special mention during Zero Hour in the Legislative Assembly, he pointed out the daylight murder of a French National Rajaram last week and said the police had registered an FIR against his son on the day of the crime and it was known later that his son was also murdered several months ago.

The PMC member, pointing out the death of life term convict Kamal Shah in the Parvathy Shah rape and murder case here in the Central prison recently, demanded that the government take stringent action to maintain law and order. He wondered why the government was reluctant to introduce ''Goondas Act'' here.

CPI member Na Ra Kalainathan through another special mention brought to the notice of the government that the banned lotteries and items like Pan Parag were being sold here without any hinderence.

Displaying the banned items in the House, he urged the government to initiate action to put an end to the sale of such items.

However, there was no reply from the government.
