Extortion attempt foiled in South Delhi
New Delhi, Apr 28 (UNI) With the arrest of three people, police have foiled an attempt to extort money from a businessman in South Delhi's Okhla Industrial Area.
Kuldeep Singh Rawat (26), Naresh Kumar (30) and Umesh Rai (27) were arrested by the sleuths of the crime branch.
While Kuldeep and Naresh were arrested on April 26, Umesh was arrested today.
The accused were allegedly making threatening calls and demanding Rs 20 lakh from the complainant Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal.
Police recovered two mobile phones and a SIM card from the accused.
During interrogation, police said, Naresh confessed that he came in contact with Umesh who was a former employee of Mr Agarwal. Umesh provided all the information about Mr Agarwal.
Further investigations are in progress.
