CPI(M) worker shot dead in Midnapore
Lalgarh, West Bengal, Apr 28 (UNI) Unidentified criminals today gunned down a CPI(M) activist at Banskona village under Lalgarh Police Station of West Midnapur district.
Superintendent of Police R Rajshekharan said the miscreants also set ablaze some houses belonging to the CPI(M) activists.
The killers fired a barrage of bullets at the deceased when he along with other CPI(M) workers were canvassing for the party for the coming Panchayat election.
Police rushed to the spot, but the miscreants managed to escape.
District Magistrate N S Nigam said the miscreants were yet to be identified.
However, local CPI(M) sources alleged that Jharkhand Party JKP might be behind the murder.
Tension was running high in the area.
