18 Lankans take refuge in Mandapam camp at TN
Ramanathapuram, Apr 28 (UNI) Eighteen Sri Lankan nationals, including three children, took refuge in a 'Special Refugee Camp' for Sri Lankan Tamil refugees at Mandapam here today.
Official sources told 'UNI' the refugees hailing from Paruthithurai, Jaffna, Mattakalappu, Kandi and Trincomalee regions of the Island nation, arrived in Tamil Nadu, recently with valid documents.
They arrived here this evening and registered their names in the camp. Later, they were housed at the camp.
It may be recalled that there was heavy influx of Sri Lankan Tamil refugees to Tamil Nadu in the last few months, owing to fierce fighting between the Lankan armed forces and Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam(LTTE).
