Leprosy-affected on sit-in, protest their demands to be met
New Delhi, Apr 27 (UNI) The strike of more than 35 leprosy societies of Delhi entered its twelfth day today with several people, including children and women, protesting that their demands were not met as per the High Court order.
Demanding that I-cards be issued to them as per the court's order, the agitators are on a 'dharna' at Jantar Mantar here since April 16.
Seeking concession in electricity bills, given by the railways and transport department, the protestors sought proper maintenance of sanitation and civic facilities at their Tahirpur leprosy complex.
Their other demands include granting old age/widow pension, RCL grant to all deserving leprosy-affected and their dependents, besides regularising or rehabilitating leprosy centres and giving them ownership rights.
