Koirala stresses on poverty alleviation in South Asia
Kathmandu, Apr 27 (UNI) Nepal Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala today urged the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) to stress on poverty alleviation and infrastructure development.
Mr Koirala said this while meeting with SAARC General Secretary Shree Kanta Sharma at his official residence at Baluwatar this morning.
''The Prime Minister also expressed commitment to extend all kinds of support to the SAARC countries on behalf of Nepal,'' Kantipur quoted PM's advisor for foreign affairs Aditya Baral as saying.
Mr Koirala also discussed on the expansion of south Asian assistance, he said.
Mr Sharma handed over an invitation of upcoming SAARC conference to be held in August at Colombo in Sri Lanka.
Established in 1985, SAARC comprises Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
