Jaffer to stay in Congress
New Delhi, Apr 27 (UNI) Former Union Minister and Karnataka Congress leader Jaffer Sharief today announced his decision to stay in the party and withdrew his resignation from all party posts.
Mr Sharief who resigned three days ago following differences with the Party High Command over distribution of tickets to candidates for the forthcoming state assembly election in Karnataka, announced his decision after a 20-minutes-long meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi at her residence.
AICC general secratary in-charge of Karnataka PrithviRaj Chavan was also present during the meeting.
Mr Sharief told mediapersons that he would remain in the Congess to fight against the ''communal forces'', especially in the context of the assembly elections.
Mr Sharief, however, did not give any details on what actually transpired at the meeting.
