Deep depression in Bay of Bengal
Bhubaneswar, Apr 27 (UNI) A depression over South East Bay of Bengal has moved slightly westwards and intensified into a Deep Depression and lay centred at about 800 km South-South-East of Gopalpur.
Met sources here said the system is likely to intensify further and move initially in North Westerly direction.The deep depression has brought much respite to the people in south and north Orissa who have been, experiencing scorching heat over the past few days.
The deep depression is likely to cause rain and thundershower at a few places over South Orissa and isolated parts over North Orissa.
Sources said the day temperature which has been hovering over 38 degrees Celsius at many places had started plummeting following the deep depression bringing cheers to the people.
Meanwhile, the authority has hoisted the Distant Cautionary Signal Number One (DC-I) at Paradeep and Gopalpur Ports and advised fishermen not to venture into the sea in the next 48 hours.
