Congress urges admn to set up minority welfare board
Puducherry, Apr 27(UNI) The minority wing of the Congress today urged the administration to set up a separate welfare board for the minorities in the Union Territory.
A resolution to this effect, adopted at a meeting of the party here, also urged the administration to introduce reservation for the minorities in education and employment.
The resolution thanked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi for allocating of Rs 1,000 crore in the Union Budget for the welfare of the minorities.
Puducherry Education Minister M O H F Shajahan and Congress General Secretary A Gandhiraj among others participated in the meeting.
