76 kanal standing wheat crop destroyed in fire in Jammu
Jammu, Apr 27 (UNI) About 76 kanal standing wheat crop was destroyed in two fire incidents in Jammu and Kathua districts of the J&K state, sources today said.
Sources said 52 kanal standing wheat crop was burnt to ashes at Pindi Charkan Kalan village in Bishnah here yesterday while about 24 kanal produce was destroyed at Danni Berra in Charwal area of Kathua district the same day.
As per reports, one Munshi Ram saw his fields on fire in the morning and raised an alarm. Villagers immediately gathered and started efforts to put off the fire. They also called up the fire station but before the fire tender could arrive the blazes were brought under control, sources said.
''Wheat crop of three people, namely Basi Lal, Chhaju Ram and Bihari Lal, in 52 kanals was destroyed in the incident'' sources said.
Meanwhile, wheat crop standing in 24 kanal of land was destroyed at Danni Berra due to the sparking of 11,000 KV high-voltage electrical line over the fields, sources said.
