Two cops killed, five injured in road accident

Pudukkottai, Apr 26: Two police head constables were killed on the spot and five other policemen, including a Sub Inspector of police were injured when a jeep in which they were travelling collided with a State Transport Corporation bus at Cholagampatti village on the Pudukkottai-Thanjavur highway near here in this district of Tamil Nadu yesterday.

Police said the mishap occurred when a police party was on their way to trace some of the accused, against whom arrest warrants were pending.

The injured were admitted to Government Headquarters Hospital here.

The deceased were identified as Saminathan and Ammasi, police added.
