Parliamentary bye-election preparations review held

Shimla, Apr 26 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Manisha Nanda today said the Model Code of Conduct must be implemented strictly to ensure free, fair and impartial elections.

Presiding over the Video Conference here to take stock of election preparedness, she emphasised the importance of voting rights and directed the Returning Officers to adhere to the directives of the Election Commission.

Ms Nanda inquired about the availability of adequate copies of Photo Electoral Rolls.

She directed the Returning Officers for physical verification of buildings of polling stations and if required, make any modification in the polling stations.

Any changes in nomenclature of polling stations building due to upgradation must be notified by District Election Officers, she said.
