Metals recover on fresh demand

Mumbai, Apr 26 (UNI) Ferrous and non-ferrous metals today recovered on increase of fresh demand, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange (BME) said.

In the ferrous metal category, copper heavy and brass utensils moved up by Rs 100 per quintal each on speculative buying.

However, copper utensils, brass cuttings and aluminium utensils remained unchanged, traders said.

In the non-ferrous metal category, copper wire bars, zinc slab, tin slab and nickel cathode inched up.

Copper wire bars and zinc slab rose by Rs 100 per quintal each.

Tin slab and nickel cathode also shot up by Rs 5 per kg, amid lesser stock supply, traders added.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: copper heavy - Rs 36,700, copper utensils - Rs 33,000, brass utensils - Rs 25,400, brass cuttings - Rs 26,300 and aluminium utensils - Rs 11,200.

Non-ferrous metals: copper wire bars - Rs 40,200, aluminium ingots - Rs 14,400, zinc slab - Rs 11,900, lead ingots - Rs 12,700, tin slab - Rs 1,070 per kg and nickel cathode - Rs 1,380 per kg.
