Girls shine in ten plus science examinations

Dharamshala, Apr 26 (UNI) Girls outshined boys in the ten plus science examinations, conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Examination (HPBSE), which recorded a pass percentage of about 75 per cent.

Apurav Chandel, a student of Him Sarvodya Senior Secondary School Ghumarwin, was bagged the first position with 472 marks, while Jyotsana Sharma, student of Vision Convent School Ghumarwin and Damini Thakur of MCM DAV College Kangra were places second with 468 marks.

Akanksha Gupta of Blue Star Senior Secondary Public School, Hamirpur was third with 463 marks, board's secretary Rajesh Sharma told UNI here.

He said of the 15,500 students, including 9,309 boys and 6,191 girls, that appeared in the ten plus two science group examinations, 11,539 were declared successful and 1,816 were placed under compartment.

The pass percentage this was 74.59 per cent as against a dismissal 57.47 per cent recorded last year, Mr Sharma said.

He said the merit list of the science students included 13 students and included eight girls.

The results were also available on the Board's website ''hpeducationboard.nic.in'' tomorrow, he added.
