Three-tier security in Kishtwar ahead of PM's visit tomorrow

Kishtwar, J&K (UNI) Three-tier security arrangements were put in place ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to this hilly town in Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow.

However, there was total black- out in the entire Kishtwar town while Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, his deputy Jairam Ramesh and J&K Power Minister Babu Singh were camping in the town.

''For the last two days, there is no light in Kishtwar town,'' locals informed.

Looking at the terror threats, extra deployments of Army, CRPF and BSF were made to senitize the vital areas in Kishtwar town.

''Entire area, including the venue where the Prime Minister will address the public rally tomorrow, have been senitized by using mine detectors and sniffer dogs,'' a security official said.

All major links to the town were being manned by para-military troops and state police.

Dr Singh will dedicate to the nation the 390 MW Dulhasti hydro electric power project, the foundation stone of which was laid down by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1983.
