Six sentenced to life imprisonment in 13-yr-old case
New Delhi, Apr 25 (UNI) A city court today sentenced six people to life imprisonment in a 13-year-old murder case.
A case was registered against 11 persons in an incident which occurred on August, 1995 in which a mob had killed Hemraj.
Hemraj had an altercation with the convicts a day before the incident on making some derogatory remarks on a female member of the victim's family.
When the deceased went to railway station with his sister-in-law, the convicts attacked him with knives and iron rods at Sadar Bajar area of north Delhi. Hemraj succumbed to his injuries.
Additional Sessions Judge Babu Lal found Hiralal, Neeranjan, Hari Om, Rakesh, Ved Prakash and Dharmendra guilty under Section 302 of IPC. Court acquitted two accused and an accused died during trial while two accused were sent to juvenile court.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on each convict.
