Police arrest two Maoists

Baripada, Apr 25 (UNI) Two suspected Maoists, arrested by the Mayurbhanj police yesterday from Bangriposi area, were sent to jail custody after being produced before a local court here today.

Police said while one of them was identified as Gourange Mandal and belonged to Keshdebpur village in Kalna police station of West Bengal's Bardhawan district,the other was identified as Bijoyprasad alias Harishchandra from Uttar Pradesh.

Mayurbhanj Superintendent of Police Dayal Gangwar said the duo was involved in an encounter with the police in the Charabundh area under Bangriposi police station limits on August 9 last year.

The SP said CRPF camps had been established in the Naxalite prone areas like Chadeibeda, Paktia, Besoi,Bangriposi, Saraskona and Jharpokharia and efforts were on to curb the menace of ultras in the district.
