Myanmar army officials meet Eastern Command chief
Kolkata, Apr 25 (UNI) Brig Gen Tin Maung Ohu, leading a 15-member Myanmarese military delegation, today called on GOC-in-Chief, Eastern Command, Lt Gen V K Singh at his office in Fort William here and discussed common problems in the India-Myanmar biannual border meeting liaison held twice a year, a defence communique said today.
Discussions are held twice a year on issues of mutual interest between the two armed forces.
The delegation which arrived here on April 22 visited Rangpahar where first round of talks were held.
After meeting with Lt Gen V K Singh, the visiting army officials held the second round of talks here today in which Indian delegation was led by Lt Gen P K Goel, Chief of Staff, Headquarters, Eastern Command.
Various issues like cross border insurgency, arms smuggling and border management between the two countires were discussed during the meeting.
Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh in the northest share borders with Myanmar.
The next meeting between the two armed forces will be held in Myanmar sometime later this year, Eastern Command sources said.
