Middle-aged man, niece commit suicide in Punjab

Ludhiana, Apr 25 (UNI) A middle-aged man and his 16-year-old niece today committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance in a hotel room here today.

According to police, shortly after checking into the hotel, the two consumed the poisonous substance. They were rushed to the CMC hospital by the hotel staff.

The two, however, died after they were referred to the hospital.

As per the information avaliable in the hotel register, they were lodged in as Surjit Singh and his daughter, Sunija, both residents of Tohana in Haryana.

However, investigations by the police revealed that the girl was the niece of Surjit Singh. The two had eloped yesterday and a case in this connection was registered at the Tohana police station.
