Marathi movies would be shown in 'Bharatmata' theatre

Mumbai, Apr 25 (UNI) 'Bharatmata' theatre at Lalbaugh in central Mumbai will not be demolished and it would screen only Marathi movies, Minister of state for Urban Development Rajesh Tope informed the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly today.

Making a statement on a calling attention notice by Mr Vallabh Benke (NCP) and others, the Minister said there were no plans to construct a mall on the site.

'Bharatmata' is the only theatre exclusively showing Marathi movies in the Metropolis.

Earlier, the National Textile Corporation had taken a decision to demolish the theatre and construct a mall on the plot.
