Interpol officer deposes in fake encounter case

Patna, Apr 25 (UNI) Interpol officer N S Khariyat today deposed before a local sessions court here in connection with the much hyped Ashiana Nagar fake encounter case.

CBI produced Mr Khariyat during the day as its 32nd witness in the case in the court of additional district and sessions judge of Patna.

Mr Khariyat was earlier posted in New Delhi in CBI as an SP and had investigated the case. Currently, Mr Khariyat is an SP of Interpol.

In a fake encounter, police killed three youths in Ashiana Nagar locality under Shashtri Nagar police station of the state capital on December 28, 2002.

CBI had investigated the case and submitted chargesheet against several people, including the then Officer-in-charge of Shashtri Nagar police station.
