Lahore, Apr 25 : The US has said that it would not meddle into Pakistan's internal affairs, like Pervez Musharraf's impeachment or restoration of the deposed judges.
Principal Officer at the US' Lahore Consulate, Bryan Hunt said that any decision made on President Pervez Musharraf's impeachment or on restoring the deposed judges was an "internal issue" of Pakistan and that the US will not interfere into those.
He, however, said that the US was playing an important role in the social development of Pakistan and prospects of investment and co-operation between the two countries were increasing gradually.
Hunt said that relations between Pakistan and the US were based on solid foundations and both countries were making efforts for global peace. He said bilateral co-operation between the two countries in education, research and trade was also increasing.
The agreement between the local Taliban and NWFP government was also an internal issue and that America would continue supporting the government's peace overtures, the Daily Times quoted him as saying.
