Husband murders wife, commits suicide

Ludhiana, Apr 25 (UNI) A government school teacher allegedly murdered his wife with a sharp edged weapon and then committed suicide at their residence in Machiwara town of the district last night. police said today.

According to the police, Amritpal Singh, attacked his wife, Gurpreet Kaur with a sharp edged weapon, as he suspected that she had illict relationship with someone in the town. After killing her, he cut his wrist, and later consumed a poisonous substance.

An earlier version given by the police said the two were murdered with sharp edged weapons. However a relative of the deceased couple later told the police that the two had strained relations.

The post mortem report confirmed the statement given to the police by the relative.
